The value of financial advice - Global Consumer Study 2023

Financial advice delivers quantitative and qualitative benefits,
according to a just-published global survey.

Commissioned by Financial Advice New Zealand with the Financial Planning Standards Board, the study found advised individuals were demonstrably better-off across a range of metrics captured in a new index.

The study presents a comparison between the personal experiences of individuals who navigate their financial journey alone, those who work with a financial planner, and specifically, those who seek advice from a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional. Financial planners who attain CFP certification have committed to rigorous standards of competency, ethics, and practice in financial planning.

CFPCM professional advised consumers reported highest levels of satisfaction globally, but New Zealanders seemed happiest of all with 100% clients of CFPCM professionals reportedly saying they “are likely to continue the relationship with their financial planner”.
